OK, I need to hear from some articulate religeous folk who might be able to do more than quote Bible verses at me. I was looking at this Prayer Chain topic and I found a couple of concepts that I can never seem to get my head around. First of all, what is this idea about God allowing some things to happen and not allowing other things to happen. I always thought things happened because of random chance, cause and effect, or forces of nature and the like. What's up with this? Next, this thing about things happening for a reason. How can you say that anything that happens happens for a good reason but you'll never be told exactly what the reason is but you know God knows hte reason and it's a good one? is it wishful thinking? Boundless optimism? Somebody please enlighten me.
